how to make a domain to come in top 10 search list while searching in search engine?
hi all,
recently i bought a domain with a place name in kerala and the extension is .in . i want it to be the top search list . what are all the things i want to be taken care while developing . i am using the html and javascript for developing

Keep your code clean. Try to use as much html as possible, and avoid the Javascript where you can.
If you know CSS, use it. Separating style from content will help make your site more crawl-able.
Write titles, descriptions and meta keywords with your target keywords.
Titles shoud be 70 characters or less, descriptions should be 150 characters. Meta keywords should be limited to 10 or less.
Use text based navigation – Navigation should include your keywords, but make it natural.
Use Header tags
, etc… to outline the important content on each page. (use sparingly, only where appropriate, write like an outline.

Set up accounts with Yahoo Site Explorer and Google Webmaster Tools and MSN Webmasters and ASK.com
Verify each account and Submit your sitemap to all of them
Setup your listing in Yahoo and Google Local
Create social profiles and link to your page from the profile
Start building links to your site – directories, article submissions, Press Releases, social news submissions (not spammy though), forum participation and blog comments.
Set up a blog related to your topic and link to your site from the blog – write 25 posts before linking so the blog has some authority.
NO RECIPROCAL LINKS OR LINK FARMS – these will hurt you in the long run.
