I’d like to have my own website. Any advice about how to do this?
How do I register my domain name? What can I expect in terms of cost for doing so? Is it possible to have a website through my internet provider (Qwest with MSN email).
Is web design difficult? I have a blog and do okay with that, but would like to do more of an interactive website where many people can post and search through each others posts.
Any tips, advice, websites, suggestions etc are welcome. Thanks!

Ok , I will attempt this without confusing you too much haha! This is what I would recommend you doing if you want to run and create your own website without hiring a designer/scripter
What your going to need:
- A Domain Name
- A Website Host
- A CMS
I would first recommend the company “HostGator” for website hosting. They have awesome packages, they are very low priced , and the support is excellent (and 24/7). The other nice thing is that you can also purchase the domain name from them when you purchase the hosting….I belive the packages for hosting start at like $4.95 a month

HostGator also has a program that comes with the hosting called “Fantastico”. This allows you to install popular scripts onto your website automaticlly rather then manually.
Now for the website itself I mentioned a CMS. it is basiclly a platform that will allow you to load a pre-built template onto your site , customize it , and add all the content you want without ever having to know scripting. For this I recommend a program called “Joomla” which can be installed via “Fantastico” on HostGator!
